audio tools

Audio editing software is commonly used by audio engineers and music producers (i.e. mixers, editors, sound designers) for use in music, films, and television shows, often in conjunction with video editing software to mix or delete audio sections, edit and rearrange audio regions, and record and generate new audio components. Audio editing programs may also offer effects for manipulating the sound of audio files in a variety of ways. Compatibility with multiple file types, such as MP3s, WAVE, Windows Media, and MPEG-4, is a common feature.

Virtual Studio Technology (VST):

HalfTime transforms any audio into a dark, downtempo version of itself, giving your tracks huge mood and atmosphere. Lead synths mutate into heavyweight EDM bass monsters. Plinky piano lines become haunting slow-mo trap melodies. Percussion thickens, expanding to reveal new rhythmic possibilities. Three speed Modes give you classic half-speed, tight harmonies and shuffling swing rhythms, and drugged-out quad-time playback. Adjustable Loop length allows multi-bar slow-downs, funky syncopations and totally new grooves.
Polyverse Wider gives any mono signal the illusion of an expanded stereo image with an awe-inspiring amount of width. It’s a unique stereo widener plug-in that is completely “mono-compatible” — any signal that has been widened will always remain in phase with itself, even when it is summed back into mono.

digital audio workstation (DAW):

FL Studio is an all-in-one music production software that allows musicians and producers to create, mix, and master music to the most professional standards. Using FL Studio’s Playlist dashboard, users can manage all track elements and properly sequence each track for mastering using drag-and-drop capabilities.

To expand sound capabilities, FL Studio offers an array of plugins, synths, and effects at additional costs via their online shop. For additional sound capabilities, FL Studio supports all VST 1,2, and 3 standards so users can integrate any type of VST plugin. Using the integrated Piano Roll, users can easily sequence notes to create complex tracks. FL Studio is available on mobile devices via an iOS, Android, and Windows app.

Ableton Live, also known as Live or sometimes colloquially as “Ableton”, is a digital audio workstation for macOS and Windows developed by the German company Ableton.

In contrast to many other software sequencers, Live is designed to be an instrument for live performances as well as a tool for composing, recording, arranging, mixing, and mastering. It is also used by DJs, as it offers a suite of controls for beatmatching, crossfading, and other different effects used by turntablists, and was one of the first music applications to automatically beatmatch songs.
